Scouting Builds Skills, Confidence and Faith

Welcome to Scouts BSA Troop 975! We are a Youth-Led organization. That means that while parents are involved, our kids run the show. Scouts BSA strives to provide a healthy, safe and fun environment for our youth to learn valuable life skills, contribute to their communities & places of worship and develop key skills to be positive future leaders.

What Do You Do at Scouts BSA?

Our weekly meetings offer a wide variety of activities that encourage teamwork, being outdoors. learning valuable life skills and of course fun!

Try new things, develop untapped talents. Our Scouts BSA guide offers the opportunity to earn rank advancements that teach critical life and outdoor skills. They can also earn Merit badges that offer the youth the opportunity to dig deep into an area of interest.

Our Troop is Youth-Led, which means that the planning, organizing, and implementation of each meeting is up to our youth. As parents, this can be an interesting transition and while parents do ensure safety first, we strive to give the youth the space to have minor failures in a safe environment. This sets our children up for a successful future of achieving through adversary.

Our Activities

Some of our past events have included:

  • A weekend campout at Palomar Mountain that included a tour of the Palomar Observatory.

  • We've camped at San Onofre beach campground.

  • Welcomed home veterans from the Honor Flight program.

  • Participated in a Memorial Day flag ceremony at Fort Rosecrans.

  • 3-5 mile weekend hikes on various trails at Mission Trails Park.

What is Unique About Troop 975?

We meet outside year-round! The Church has provided an open space at the back of the Church property where our children hold their weekly meetings.

Being outside has numerous health, wellness, and spiritual benefits and allows us a moment to reflect on our place in this world as well as a respite from a very electronically centered world. Plus being outside is fun!

We also take the Youth-Led philosophy of Scouting to heart and allow the Scouts to lead, organize, plan and execute almost all of the meetings, outings, and community events the Scouts participate in.

We have trained adults to ensure a safe learning environment but do try to allow the Scouts to learn by experience as much as possible.
