Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us? Luke 24:32 |

Sacred Scripture has always been an oral tradition. When proclaimed aloud, the Word becomes alive! God speaks to us!
Readers are expected to prepare conscientiously before arriving at Mass by rehearsing their readings, not silently, but aloud, varying inflections and pace, by hearing, not merely seeing, which variations best convey the meanings of the words.
To proclaim Sacred Scripture to the members of the Christian community is to cultivate - and by cultivating to carry on - a tradition many thousands of years old. What we do is more than a privilege; it is a responsibility that demands our ablest efforts.
If you have a gift for reading aloud, please consider this important ministry.
