Take this and eat it. This is my body which will be given for you. Do this as a remembrance of me.  Luke 22:17

Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion!

We are dedicated to serving Christ through bringing “food for the journey” to our community at Mass and to the sick and homebound.  In turn, we are blessed through the revelation of Christ’s presence in each person with whom we share the Eucharist.

There is a one-day diocesan training for new Eucharistic Ministers, which is offered twice a year.

There is also an in parish training to familiarize new EM's with liturgical procedures in our parish.

A Eucharistic Minister must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic at least fifteen years old.

To inquire, please contact the Ministry Center 619.286.4605.

The role of Sacristan at mass is filled by the lead Eucharistic Minister.  The sacristan is responsible for the set-up for a particular liturgy making sure everything is in place for the mass to begin, as well as clearing and preparing the church at the end of the liturgy.  The role of Sacristan holds a greater time and frequency commitment that communion minister alone.
