Funeral Arrangements |
|
At the time of death, please have a family member call the church office at 619.582.3716. This is so that we may pray with you for the family and the deceased. As arrangements begin for the funeral, either the family or the funeral director should notify us. Personal contact with family members is the most desirable way for parish staff to help the family plan for the funeral. You may wish to download St Thérèse Parish Guide for Funerals.
We will ask when and what time you would like the service, whether it is to be a memorial or funeral Mass and see when the church is available. The priest or deacon handling the service needs to confirm date and time before anything is official.
Additional information requested at that time will be the name of the deceased, date of death, name of person calling, their relationship to the deceased and their phone number, and the name of the funeral home.
When you meet with the priest (or deacon), he will discuss suitable readings and music for the funeral liturgy. If you wish to use the parish musician you will contact him directly to make arrangements and select music. A workbook to assist you in preparing a memorial booklet for the funeral mass will be given to you at that time. The liturgy may be held at St. Thérèse Catholic Church or in St. Joseph’s Chapel for more intimate gatherings.
